Why is financial planning so important to the average person?

The advent of compulsory superannuation and the platform of all political parties to make people more responsible for funding their own retirement, rather than relying on the government to provide an Aged Persons Pension, has place a burden of financial expertise on each and every person. People with no financial expertise need to appoint a Financial Planner early in life to make sure that they are heading towards financial security and independance.
